*All decisions of Transfer Station Attendant are final in all determination of tipping fees.
*Contractors must transport their waste to the Bensfort Landfill Site and pay their applicable tipping fees.

Used Tires

As of September 1, 2009 there are no longer tipping fees collected for tires at the Halls Glen Transfer Station (tires with rims will not be accepted).

Waste Materials

Waste materials include everything brought to the site for disposal, except for recyclable materials, garbage bags with tags affixed thereto and those other items specifically listed above.

All waste must be separated. Failure to separate will result in denial of access to the site or double the normal tipping fee will be charged.

Mixed Loads

Applicable fees for individual items will be charged in addition to the per tonne rate. For example: Rates for furniture, appliances, tires and propane tanks will be charged as well as the per tonne rate for the balance of the load.

Curbside Garbage Collection

M & M Disposals provides curbside garbage collection for most households. Residences are allotted one bag per week (up to 3 additional bags with stickers). Free Garbage Stickers are available upon request at the Municipal Office for permanent and seasonal residents (3 free stickers per year for permanent residents, 20 free stickers per year for seasonal residents). Additional garbage stickers can be purchased at the Municipal Office for $2.00 each (see fee increase above).

Effective January 1, 2014 – not more than three (3) receptacles, bags or bundles (6 cu ft./ 0.18 cu meters) per collection; and
Effective January 1, 2015 – not more than two (2) receptacles, bags or bundles (4 cu ft./ 0.12 cu meters) per collection; which meet the requirements of Section 4 of this by-law.

For garbage collection, bags cannot weigh more than 50 lbs. (23 kgs.) and the bag must be polyethylene plastic with a minimum of 1.5 gauge thickness. Garbage bins cannot be more than 2 cubic feet capacity with the contents weighing a maximum of 50 lbs (23 kgs.).

Recycling and hazardous waste is managed by the County of Peterborough.
