The Douro-Dummer Fire Department is under the direction of full-time Fire Chief Mike Keough. We have 46 volunteer firefighters who are on call 24 hours a day, 5 fire halls with 13 emergency vehicles and 2 fire rescue boats.
The primary mission of the Township of Douro-Dummer Fire Department is to provide a range of programs to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants of the Township of Douro-Dummer from the adverse effects of fires, sudden medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions created by man or nature.
In the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1.
An integral part of this system is the property identification numbers (green signs with white numbers at driveways on the mainland and at docking locations on islands). If your sign is missing or damaged please Contact us. Without these numbers emergency vehicles will not be able to easily find your location and this may delay their response to your emergency.
Please record your property address on a 9-1-1 sticker and attach it to your phone. Please instruct all members of your family on 9-1-1 use and remember, 9-1-1- is for emergencies only!
Fire stations #1 (Donwood), #2 (Hamlet of Douro) and #4 (Hamlet of Warsaw) have Tanker Shuttle Accreditation. If you live within 8 kilometres of those respected fire halls, contact your insurance company and you may be eligible for a reduction on your insurance premium.
