Dog owners in the Township of Douro-Dummer are required to obtain a dog licence for each dog (up to a maximum of three dogs allowed per household). Dog Licences expire on December 31st of each year and owners must obtain new licences by March 31st of the following year.
The Township of Douro-Dummer will begin using Permanent Dog Tags starting in 2012. The annual fee for a Dog Tag will be $15.00 per tag prior to April 30th and $20.00 per tag after April 30th.
After the initial purchase of a permanent dog tag, registered licenced dog owners will be invoiced annually to re-new their license to ensure that the licence number and tag (which will remain on the dog year after year) will be valid and kept on file for the following year. All dog licences expire on December 31st of each year.

No person shall permit a dog to run at large in the Township. Dogs should be held securely on a leash to prevent the possibility of injury to people and other animals.

Fees raised by Dog Licensing are used to offset the cost of this service to the Township and to cover the cost of livestock damages caused by dogs.
