A Beginners guide to Social Media – Staying connected safely
Are you interested in finding new ways to connect with friend and family?
Explore social media tools like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter?
On October 21st at 10:30 a.m. at the library we will go through how to:
• set up an account and profile in Facebook;
• privacy and safety settings;
• ways to engage including group discussions and event planning.
• We will then introduce you more generally to Instagram and Twitter and how to connect on these platforms.
The emphasis of the day will be how to engage using these tools and how to use them safely.
The speaker is Anne McCarthy .
She went to Trent for her undergraduate and Laurentian for her graduate degree in Biology. In her free time she volunteers with the Friends of Ferris park and with this group she organizes public events such as Kite Day and the Spring Nature Walk as well as promotional and fundraising activities. Anne promotes these events and activities using social media and works with the local media to share photos and event descriptions. She has been using social media for over 10 years to not only keep in touch with friends and family all over the world, but to keep up on world events.
