There is a municipal election in October this year and to allow easier accessibility for the electors, the Township will be using the internet and telephone voting method. This will allow you to vote from anywhere; the comfort of your home, while standing in line waiting for coffee or while away on holiday. More information will be available in the upcoming months, so please follow us on social media or monitor our website. Election Day is October 22, 2018.

You can vote in Township of Douro-Dummer’s municipal election if you are:

  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • at least 18 years old; and
  • a resident in the of Township of Douro-Dummer; or
  • a non-resident of Township of Douro-Dummer, but you or your spouse own or rent property in the Township ; and
  • not prohibited from voting under any law

You may only vote once in the Township of Douro-Dummer municipal election regardless of how many properties you own or rent within the Township. You must vote in the ward where you live.

Locations and times for voting places: Telephone and internet voting is available 24 hours a day from: Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, October 22, 2018 at 8:00 p.m.

Help Centre Kiosks and a Telephone will be available to the public at the Municipal Office, 894 South Street, Warsaw, for your voting convenience or if you require assistance to vote from:
Tuesday, October 9 at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m. (during regular office hours) and on Monday, October 22 (Voting Day) from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Voters will receive a letter in the mail with instructions on how to Vote in late September / early October.

Accessibility: It is the goal of the Township of Douro-Dummer to ensure that all Electors in the Township who have a disability or an issue with accessibility are provided with the best opportunity to vote as independently as possible in the 2018 Municipal Election. Persons who need assistance / accommodations to vote are encouraged to contact the Clerk by October 1, 2018.

Information for students:

If you are a student and consider your “home” to be the place where you live when you are not attending school, which means you plan on returning there, then you are eligible to vote in both your “home” municipality and in the municipality where you currently live while attending school.

If you are a student attending school in another municipality, please check with the Clerk of that municipality to find out what your voting options are.
