What is the Teeny Tiny Summit?
Teeny Tiny Summits were initiated 4 years ago through the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, to provide a forum to discuss how economic development can succeed in teeny tiny rural communities like ours. Success stories abound from Teeny Tiny communities and Haliburton is no different. With a focus on Unlocking the Potential of Youth in Teeny Tiny Communities, we promise you, a fun filled Day at Camp!
What to Expect:
Register today and be inspired by a variety of young entrepreneurs; individuals that have created and successfully grown their outdoor recreation based businesses; as well as organizations that support, engage and educate the younger generation to help prepare them to contribute positively to society and the economy.
The day will feature three exciting panels on how youth are impacting economic development in the Haliburton area.
Young Entrepreneurs Panel Discussion Themes: Why did they locate in a Teeny Tiny? How has their location helped them launch and grow their business? How can other communities unlock the potential of young entrepreneurs in their community?
Environment and Recreation Panel Discussion Themes: What has been the economic impact of youth in the community? How do these amenities and services create a sense of place and community for youth and families? How have these organizations diversified to offer more products and services in their community?
Engaging and Educating the Younger Generation Panel Discussion Themes: How are you engaging youth? How did you identify the need and the importance of that need? What has been the impact of that engagement with youth?
Since we will really be at a summer camp, please wear clothes and shoes that will allow you to be comfortable and able to participate in a range of outdoor activities that will be available following the lunch break. As long as weather cooperates, you will be able choose from the zip line, rock climbing or archery if you want a challenge. There are also hiking trails to explore and less physical activities such as drumming, so there is something for everyone.
The zip lining, rock climbing and archery are included as part of your registration cost, but will be offered on a first come, first serve basis, so arrive come early if you are set on trying a certain activity.
The Teeny Tiny Registration is now open, visit www.dysartetal.ca/teeny-tiny-summit
