Peterborough Public Health had made a supply of Radon test kits for local residents conveniently available throughout the County. This supply of kits has now run out and the kits are now available at Peterborough Public Health located at 185 King Street in Peterborough.
Radon causes between 1,080 and 1,550 cancer cases in Ontario each year. The gas is colourless and odourless and can build up without the homeowner noticing.
The test requires the homeowner to place the kit in the lowest lived-in level of your home and leave it there for three months. Afterwards, the test is mailed away to the lab where the results will be returned to you. The kits include the shipping fee.
